Chapter 519: Going Upstairs
Chapter 519: Going Upstairs
Zhang Lei calmly smoked his cigarette, quietly waiting for things to escalate.
Frank was filled with disbelief, utterly baffled as to how this person could be so lucky.
Zhang Lei smoked half a cigarette, looked up at Frank, and said calmly, "A bet is a bet."
Frank forced down his resentment and said, trying to appear calm, "Consider yourself lucky."
After saying that, he picked up his pen and quickly wrote down a check.
Zhang Lei looked at the ten million yuan on the check and shook his head slightly: "Since this is a casino, please exchange it all for chips."
Frank's face instantly darkened. He had been planning that since the bank was already closed late at night, the check would be uncashed the next day, and the matter would be dropped. He never expected that Zhang Lei wouldn't want cash at all, insisting on exchanging it for chips.
Manager Ethan looked at the embarrassed Frank and said politely, "Mr. Frank, please come with me."
Enraged, Frank tore the check in his hand to shreds. Taylor, who was standing nearby, tried to speak up, but Frank slapped him hard across the face, knocking him to the ground.
Frank glared fiercely at Taylor and roared, "Get the hell away from me! If I ever see you again, I'll kill you!"
Taylor and Kevin were trembling with fear. They exchanged a glance and hurriedly ran out of the casino.
At this moment, Zhang Lei gave a slight signal to the bodyguard beside him. In an instant, one of the bodyguards quietly followed him out.
Taylor and Kevin ran all the way, and only stopped after a long time, panting heavily.
Taylor covered her swollen cheek and cursed angrily, "That idiot Frank dared to hit me. I'll make sure he loses all his money sooner or later."
Kevin quickly chimed in, whispering, "That Asian guy was incredibly lucky tonight, winning so much money. Should we...?"
Before he finished speaking, Taylor instantly understood and whispered, "Okay, let me find out when he left."
Before the two could finish speaking, a cold figure silently appeared behind them.
Just as the two were about to turn around, a sharp pain suddenly shot through their necks as a sharp blade grazed them. Within seconds, they found themselves alone.
The two clutched their necks tightly, their eyes filled with resentment as they collapsed to the ground, lifeless.
The robot slowly emerged from the shadows and coldly said, "Be more careful in your next life, and don't offend my boss again."
As soon as he finished speaking, his hands, which had transformed into sharp blades, slowly returned to their original state and he left without a sound.
Inside the casino, Manager Ethan neatly arranged ten million chips in front of Zhang Lei, while the eighteen billion US dollars were all deposited into a black card.
Zhang Lei rubbed the black card between his fingers, a smile playing on his lips, and looked at Manager Ethan: "Looks like my luck is really good today."
Manager Ethan was sweating profusely and looked tense. When he was exchanging chips earlier, he had spoken with his boss, Sergio, on the phone and was severely reprimanded by his boss, who insisted that he do everything possible to get Zhang Lei to the second floor.
The gamblers watching downstairs were filled with envy, but they continued to play their games, hoping that they could also have such good luck.
Zhang Lei leaned lazily against Jessica's chest and stretched contentedly.
Jessica snuggled up to him and said with a smile, "Honey, how about coming over to my place tonight? I have a cat that can do backflips."
Zhang Lei raised an eyebrow and chuckled, "Really? Then I'd like to see for myself."
Jessica exclaimed with delight, "Not only can she do backflips, but she can also dance!"
Just as the two were chatting and flirting, Manager Ethan reluctantly stepped forward to interrupt.
"Mr. Zhang Lei, our boss specifically instructed that all your expenses at the hotel tonight are on the house. We only have a small request; would you be willing to grant it?"
Zhang Lei asked casually, "Oh? What are your requirements?"
Ethan quickly said, "With your current net worth, you're perfectly qualified to go to the high-end gambling area on the second floor. Would you be interested?"
Upon hearing about the gambling area on the second floor, Zhang Lei raised his hand and lightly tapped the gambling table, his expression nonchalant.
Manager Ethan's forehead was covered in sweat, his heart filled with anxiety, fearing that Zhang Lei would refuse outright. He knew that if the mission failed, his managerial position, which he had worked so hard for over the years, would be completely lost, and he might even pay a more severe price.
In this critical moment, Ethan was prepared to kneel and beg, for between life and face, face was not worth mentioning.
After a moment, Zhang Lei slowly spoke: "Alright, take me up."
Ethan was overjoyed and quickly led the way, taking Zhang Lei to the second floor.
At the entrance on the second floor, Sophia, the personal manager, was already waiting.
Sophia looked at Ethan and said softly, "Leave this to me."
Ethan nodded in acknowledgment and hurriedly withdrew.
Sofia smiled politely at Zhang Lei and said, "Mr. Zhang Lei, I will be at your service from now on."
Zhang Lei sized up the elegant Sophia and compared her to Jessica beside her, secretly concluding that while Jessica was beautiful, she was ultimately slightly inferior to Sophia.
Jessica noticed Zhang Lei's gaze and felt a surge of displeasure. Having worked at the casino for many years, she had finally encountered a young, handsome, and wealthy customer, so she immediately straightened her posture, trying to overshadow Sofia's aura.
Sofia ignored this and calmly led the way.
Three people were already seated around the gambling table: two men and one woman.
Upon seeing Zhang Lei arrive, the man named Marcus stood up and said, "I didn't expect you to gather enough people so quickly. We can begin."
Alexander, puffing on a cigar, quipped leisurely, "I just don't know if his funding can keep up with our pace."
The only woman, Elizabeth, smiled and said, "If she didn't have enough resources, Sophia wouldn't have brought everyone up here personally. It looks like we'll have a good time tonight."
Zhang Lei ignored their teasing and calmly sat down in the seat Sophia had indicated. He said indifferently, "I only know a little about gambling. If I make any mistakes later, I hope you won't laugh at me."
Marcus immediately scoffed, "If you don't understand gambling, why are you coming up to the second floor to join the fun?"
Alexander, however, laughed and said, "It doesn't matter, as long as we have money, that's enough."
Sofia quickly smoothed things over: "Gentlemen, this Mr. Zhang Lei just won 1.8 billion US dollars on the first floor. Please don't underestimate him."
Zhang Lei smiled faintly: "It's just luck. This is my first time gambling. According to the saying in my hometown, newcomers often have better luck."
Isabella said slowly, "Luck is also a kind of strength. Let's begin."
