Chapter 299 Heavenly Origin Pill Dao
Chapter 299 Heavenly Origin Pill Dao
The entire island of Nathan seemed to have become the dining table of that strange creature, with an invisible connection linking it to everything on the island.
Following these connections, the people, events, and things on the island are all being drawn upon by it. Even beneath the azure, undulating sea, the connections extend, capturing everything in the water and transforming it into offerings.
The distant sea seemed to merge with that creature, constantly plundering and growing in all directions. The aura of that strange creature grew ever larger and more vivid, as if it were about to come from the infinitely distant past to this present moment.
"Qu Tong, have you lost all humanity?"
Lu Qian withdrew his gaze from the distance, the crimson-gold light faded, and his expression changed from serious to cold.
"Transforming your human form into heaven and earth, aren't you afraid of overdoing it with your half-baked Heavenly Origin Elixir Technique?"
Qu Tong's current state is easy to understand. It corresponds to the Tianyuan Danfa in the Xuanmen Three-Level Danfa, but it is not a complete one, or rather, it has completely gone astray.
The Zhong Lü Chuan Dao Ji states that Lü Zu discussed the three vehicles of alchemy: the Heavenly Yuan Alchemy, the Earthly Yuan Alchemy, and the Human Yuan Alchemy.
The Heavenly Origin Elixir Method, also known as the Great Elixir Method, has extremely high requirements for the practitioner's aptitude and fortune. It has long been lost and only fragmented transmissions remain, which are mixed in with the elixir transmissions of various schools of Taoism.
This alchemical method is said to be a way to unite the body with heaven and earth, to emulate the universe with the human body, and to attain enlightenment through this method. The first thing to do is to understand one's mind and nature, and to achieve the mind and nature of a sage.
According to legend, only Lü Zu has ever mastered the complete Tianyuan Danfa, which shows how high the threshold is for this path.
Throughout the ages, many exceptionally talented individuals have tried to emulate Lü Dongbin and pursue the path of the Heavenly Origin Elixir, but the innate nature of a sage is too ethereal and too difficult to attain. Thus, this initial hurdle has blocked many people, let alone their subsequent cultivation.
It wasn't that Lü Qian looked down on Qu Tong. After all, Lü Qian was a follower of the Quanzhen School of Taoism, had read through various scriptures, recited the Yellow Court Classic, and cultivated his nature and life, yet he dared not claim that he could cultivate the Heavenly Origin Elixir.
Qu Tong, a ghostly figure who relies on the Eight Extraordinary Skills "Dual-Handed Technique" to scheme against others in the shadows, actually wants to cultivate the Heavenly Origin Elixir Dao? That's just wishful thinking.
In Lü Qian's view, the Heavenly Origin Elixir Path may be a path unique to Lü Zu, whose identity is quite extraordinary.
Taoist texts record that Chunyang Lü Zu was the reincarnation of Donghua Zhenren, also known as a reincarnated being descended to the mortal realm.
The Quanzhen School of Taoism is divided into North and South, and it worships five patriarchs and seven immortals. Among them, the seven immortals are the same, and the five patriarchs have two branches, North and South.
The five patriarchs of the Northern Quanzhen School are Donghua Emperor Wang Xuanfu, Zhengyang Emperor Zhongli Quan, Chunyang Emperor Lü Dongbin, Chunyou Emperor Liu Haichan, and Fuji Emperor Wang Chongyang.
These five patriarchs were in a master-disciple relationship. Donghua Emperor Wang Xuanfu passed on his teachings to Zhengyang Emperor Zhongli Quan, who in turn passed them on to Chunyang Emperor Lü Dongbin and Chunyou Emperor Liu Haichan. Chunyang Emperor Lü Dongbin then taught Fuji Emperor Wang Chongyang.
According to the Complete Perfection Classics, when the Eastern Emperor Wang Xuanfu converted Zhongli Quan, he mistakenly said, "I seek you as my teacher."
For those who cultivate themselves, every word and deed is a burden, so Emperor Donghua, Wang Xuanfu, owed a master-disciple relationship.
Moreover, Zhongli Quan studied under Emperor Donghua, so he naturally owes a debt of gratitude for achieving enlightenment that he needs to repay.
So Donghua Emperor Wang Xuanfu descended to earth and was reincarnated as the mortal Lü Dongbin.
And indeed, Emperor Zhongli Quan of Zhengyang approached him, guiding Lü Dongbin in his cultivation and leading him to immortality. In this way, both patriarchs repaid the debts of gratitude they had owed him.
Then, as the reincarnation of Donghua Emperor Wang Xuanfu, how could Chunyang Emperor Lü Dongbin be an existence that ordinary people could understand?
In this way, the cultivation of Lu Zu's Heavenly Origin Elixir Dao has some mysteries that ordinary people cannot understand.
"If you, Qu Tong, want to imitate something exactly, at least make it look somewhat similar. What are you trying to achieve with this utterly incongruous mess?"
As Lü Qian gazed at the distant sea that seemed to be gradually awakening, and the strange creature that was devouring everything, he sneered inwardly, but he also took it seriously.
Don't be fooled by the fact that Qu Tong has taken a detour; she has learned some tricks of the trade from others.
On the myriad paths of spiritual practice, there are no standard answers, and naturally, no absolutely certain direction.
Cultivating one's nature and spirit is fundamental, but countless branches and forks can extend from this fundamental point.
As long as we keep striving towards the infinite heights that reach the heavens, who can say that those crooked branches and forks are useless?
"With the [Dual-Handed Technique], and perhaps with the added divine refinement of the [Supreme Eight Trigrams], I have reversed myself into a primordial spirit."
In Lü Qian's bright, restrained pupils, endless wisdom collided and vanished, constantly deducing Qu Tong's condition.
"But this primordial spirit was impure and chaotic. Having abandoned its physical body, it had completely severed its path forward, transforming into that eternal Yin spirit?"
"No, then where does this power that absorbs and melts all things come from? Could it be the [Six Treasuries Immortal Thief]?"
Thinking of this, a flash of insight struck him, and Lü Qian's brows furrowed as he gazed at Nathan Island in the distance. "This state doesn't seem like something two people could achieve. Qu Tong turned Ruan Feng and the [Six Treasures Immortal Thief] into firewood?"
"Judging from his appearance, it seems he's completely smitten with Ruan Feng. Truly, they're brothers forged over a feast!"
"Completely disregarding past feelings, she's practically a monster."
"Um?"
Lu Qian seemed to sense something as he looked up at the sky above, the hidden crimson-gold patterns in his eyes flashing briefly.
High in the sky, a gentle breeze swept across the clouds and the sea, heading towards the distant Nathan Island.
High in the sky, clouds drift and swirl, and the path of this gentle breeze is unpredictable. Ordinary people can only vaguely see a few traces of its trajectory through the ever-changing clouds, but they cannot see even a glimpse of the breeze itself.
Formless and intangible, without coming or going, Qingfeng's free and easy movements suddenly seemed to sense Lü Qian's gaze. After circling once in the high sky, it flew towards Nathan Island again.
"Grandmaster Zhou Sheng, have you also come to settle your old debts and responsibilities?"
Lu Qian gazed at the direction in which the gentle breeze flowed freely, and under the bright sunlight, Zhou Sheng's figure seemed to appear in that breeze.
The figure was no longer the old and hunched figure we had seen before; instead, he was full of vigor, and his white beard and hair seemed to radiate new life under the sunlight.
He roamed freely in the vast sky with the movement of the breeze, like the Kunpeng described in ancient books, spreading his wings and soaring freely, so carefree and happy.
"It seems you also want to completely sever ties with the past, Grandmaster Zhou Sheng."
Lu Qian sighed, his expression becoming increasingly calm and natural as he gazed into the distance.
